Post-Playford Dances
Post-Playford Dances: A Week-Long Dance Workshop
Step into the world of 18th-century elegance and energy with “Post-Playford Dances”, an immersive week-long workshop exploring the social country dances that followed the era of 'The Dancing Master' published by John and Henry Playford. This unique workshop offers a deep dive into the lively and elegant dances of the Georgian period with expert guidance and glorious live music.
Who is it for?
This workshop is open to dancers with some experience of Playford, Regency or country dancing, rather than complete beginners. The atmosphere is welcoming, inclusive, and supportive, allowing everyone to dance at their own pace while developing confidence, skill, and musicality. Each session is thoughtfully structured to help participants grow in knowledge and enjoyment.
The Team
Georgia Delve is a professionally trained dancer, ballet teacher, and historical dance caller, specialising in the social country dances of the Regency and wider Georgian periods. She has performed in historical projects for TV and film, and choreographed for stage productions both in the UK and internationally. Georgia is passionate about keeping historical dance alive and accessible for all. Her teaching style is warm, informative, and inclusive, ensuring each participant feels supported and inspired throughout the week.
Dance workshops and evening balls will be brought to life by the acclaimed Warleggan Village Band. Comprising Richard Heacock, Matthew Coatsworth, and Chris Green, the band was originally formed in 2014 for BBC TV’s Poldark and has become a favourite at dance events across the UK and beyond. With appearances in both Poldark and Netflix’s Bridgerton, they bring an infectious energy and inventive flair to English country dance music. Their repertoire spans dances from Playford collections through to Regency favourites, providing a vibrant and authentic soundtrack to your dancing journey.
