A home for Folk. A home for you.

.

Halsway Manor has a long history as a residential retreat - for many, it has become their second home.

Every course booking includes tuition, meals and refreshments, and allows you to choose accommodation to suit your needs and budget. When you come to a course or holiday at Halsway, you can either stay onsite with us, or attend as a non-resident and stay locally (or at home, if you live close enough).

Staying with us

The fees for each accommodation type differ depending on course length and activities. They can be found on the individual event pages, which also offer you more information about what to expect, the team and how to decide if it’s the course for you.

Food and Drink

Meals are prepared each day by our dedicated team of chefs. Dinners are booked in advance and cooked to order so that we can minimise food waste. Although we cannot cater to individual likes and dislikes, we take dietary requirements very seriously. If you tell us in advance that you have specific needs, the chef on duty will prepare a meal for you, taking these into account.

Here’s an example of what you’ll find on offer:

  • Breakfast
Fruit juice, cereals, fruit, toast and preserves, plus cooked breakfast.

  • Lunch
Quiche with a selection of salads, and fresh fruit,

  • Dinner
Choice of two mains - one meat or fish-based, and one meat-free, plus a choice of two desserts.

Please note that, unless you have told us you can’t or don’t eat meat, there isn’t an option on the first evening as we begin preparations before you arrive and only prepare meat-free mains for those on our dietary restrictions list.

Wi-fi

If we had a pound for every time we were asked about connectivity at Halsway… we’d have a lot of pounds!

Wifi is usually available in the Bar and Main Hall. We say ‘usually’, because sometimes our remote location affects our connection to the internet, and if there’s no Wifi, it’s out of our control. We can’t get online in the office either, if it’s any consolation!

We also get a lot of questions about why we don’t put wifi in the bedrooms and the Mews. There are a couple of reasons for this conscious choice:

  • Getting a signal all the way around the house and across the car park would only be worthwhile if we knew we could provide a really reliable connection in every room, which we can’t guarantee.

  • And more importantly, we want Halsway to continue to be a place where you can shut off the outside world, properly meet and get to know other people, and where socialising reigns supreme. So no sneaking off to watch Netflix!

Accommodation FAQs

(for more comprehensive list, see our dedicated FAQ page)

Do you have a plan of the accommodation?

Yes, there are plans of the Manor and Mews available as PDFs here.

Can I bring a guest?

For some courses, it’s possible to bring a friend or partner to share your room at a reduced rate - it’s brings the price of your stay down too! They get to enjoy the experience of Halsway, even without taking part in the course, and there’s plenty to explore in the local area. We can provide packed lunches for days out, and advice about where to visit.

Accessibility

Halsway is a listed building on a historic rural site. We are constantly improving our facilities where possible to improve access to our spaces and courses.

  • Two of our ground floor rooms have step-free access and wet rooms for increased accessibility.

  • We can accommodate a wide variety of dietary requirements, and if this is a concern for you, we welcome a conversation about your needs before you make a booking. However, our kitchen handles multiple allergens and we cannot guarantee that any item is 100% allergen-free.

  • There is a hearing loop in the main teaching/dancing space

  • Registered guide/assistance dogs are welcome in the buildings and gardens. Please note that we don’t allow dogs on site in any other circumstances. See our Dog Policy for more information.
